Negative pressure wound therapy relies on an open-cell foam interface that distributes vacuum evenly across the wound bed, draws exudate away from the tissue and holds the wound edges together while granulation progresses. Foam pore structure is the single most important variable in NPWT performance. Open-cell geometry controls how vacuum spreads across the wound bed, how readily exudate travels to the tubing and how much tissue ingrowth occurs at the foam interface.

Foam that collapses under vacuum, or that sheds particulate into the wound bed, defeats the purpose of the therapy. We control pore consistency and cut quality as part of in-process inspection rather than relying on final visual checks alone.
