One-Piece System: The baseplate and pouch are permanently attached. It is lighter, thinner, and more discreet, making it suitable for daily activities.
Two-Piece System: The baseplate and pouch are connected via a flange (coupling ring). The baseplate can remain on the skin for 3 to 5 days, allowing only the pouch to be changed, thereby minimizing pulling and irritation to the skin.

Self-adhesive electrode pads are the silent workhorses behind every TENS, EMS, and muscle-stimulation session. They deliver the low-voltage pulses that relieve pain, relax tight muscles, and speed up recovery, but only when the pad stays sticky and conducts evenly. With each use, the conductive hydrogel picks up skin ...
READ MOREA foam dressing is a soft, cushioning wound cover made from medical-grade polyurethane foam. It is designed to absorb exudate, keep the wound bed moist, and protect the healing area from friction and contamination. Because of its versatility, healthcare professionals rely on foam dressings for a wide range of acute an...
READ MOREManaging a wound at home means more than just placing a clean pad over it. The way a dressing fits can determine how quickly the wound heals and whether complications appear. One of the most common problems is a dressing applied too tightly. When a bandage squeezes the wound or the surrounding limb, it can reduce bloo...
READ MOREADVAN Medical (Suzhou Advan Medical Technology Co., Ltd.) manufactures ostomy flanges and skin barrier wafers at our Suzhou facilities, supplying medical distributors, hospital groups and home-care brands with the interface component that connects a pouch to the skin. Our range covers convex ostomy barrier wafers and flat skin barrier wafers in the coupling sizes used by one-piece and two-piece ostomy systems, produced under ISO 13485:2016 quality management with CE-certified product lines and Suzhou factories complying with FDA requirements.
We have produced medical consumables since 2003 and export to more than 60 countries. Ostomy flanges sit alongside our wholesale Ostomy Flange manufacturers range within the Postoperative Excretion catalog, which also includes ostomy bags, ostomy care accessories, urine bags and incontinence pads for complete stoma-care programs.
The flange — also called a baseplate, skin barrier wafer or coupling ring — is the structural interface between the peristomal skin and the pouch. It holds the adhesive barrier against the skin, provides the mechanical coupling that locks the pouch in place, and determines how often the patient must disturb the skin.
In a two-piece system, the flange stays on the skin for 3 to 5 days while only the pouch is changed, which reduces adhesive trauma and irritation around the stoma. In a one-piece system, the flange and pouch are permanently bonded, giving a lighter, thinner and more discreet product for active daily use.
We supply the flange as a finished component and as a customizable platform. The table below shows how we position each configuration and where it fits in a product program.
| Product type | System fit | Typical application | Key configuration variables |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat skin barrier wafer | Two-piece, mechanical coupling | Regular stoma profile, intact peristomal skin | Coupling diameter, hydrocolloid thickness, tape border |
| Convex ostomy barrier wafer | Two-piece, mechanical coupling | Flush or retracted stoma, creased or uneven peristomal skin | Convexity depth, ring stiffness, coupling diameter |
| One-piece flange with bonded pouch | One-piece, permanently attached | Daily wear, discreet low-profile use | Barrier thickness, pouch film, skin-friendly adhesive |
| OEM/ODM flange platform | Brand-specific system | Distributor and private-label stoma-care lines | Shape, color, logo, size, packaging |
The barrier wafer is built from a hydrocolloid adhesive mass that absorbs moisture while keeping the skin dry and protected. We control the formulation and the coating weight because these two variables drive wear time, erosion resistance and the way the flange releases from the skin.
Because we also produce Medical Adhesive, Medical Tape Backing and Release Paper in our own supply chain, the adhesive, backing and liner can be matched to the flange specification instead of being sourced as unrelated components.
Ostomy flanges are dimensionally sensitive: a coupling that is slightly out of tolerance will not lock, and a barrier that is too thin or too thick changes wear time and comfort. Our specification review covers the following points.
Flange selection follows the stoma and the skin, not the other way around. We help distributors and clinical customers map the right barrier to each patient group.
We build ostomy flanges as private-label products. From shape, color and logo design to material, specification, size and packaging, the flange can be tailored to a brand's own system. Our R&D and quality teams work from a confirmed sample and specification sheet, so the production batch matches the approved reference.
Typical customization scope includes coupling diameter, convexity depth, barrier thickness, cut-to-fit aperture, border shape, release paper print, pouch film and retail or clinical packaging. Where a brand already has a pouch platform, we match the flange to that coupling rather than forcing a new interface.
Our quality control team follows documented inspection procedures under ISO 13485:2016. Most of our products are CE certified, and our Suzhou factories comply with FDA requirements. For flange production, the acceptance approach covers incoming raw material, in-process coating and cutting checks, and finished-product inspection.
We confirm the inspection plan and the acceptance criteria with the customer before mass production, so the first shipment and the repeat order are measured against the same standard.
To prepare an accurate flange configuration and quotation, we work from the following project inputs. The more precisely these are defined, the faster we can return a matched sample and production plan.
| Project input | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| System type (one-piece or two-piece) | Determines whether the flange is bonded to a pouch or supplied as a coupling component. |
| Coupling diameter and pouch interface | Ensures the flange locks correctly with the pouch ring. |
| Stoma profile and target patient group | Sets flat or convex barrier, convexity depth and aperture range. |
| Barrier thickness and expected wear time | Balances absorption, erosion resistance and comfort. |
| Branding, packaging and market | Defines logo, artwork, retail or clinical pack and documentation language. |
| Target quantity and delivery schedule | Sets the production batch plan and packaging run. |
Flanges are supplied in the packaging format agreed for the target market, from bulk clinical packs to retail-ready cartons with brand artwork. We confirm the pack count, labeling content and documentation set before production, and we retain samples for traceability.
For distributors building a complete stoma-care line, the flange can be coordinated with ostomy bags, ostomy care accessories and incontinence products from the same Postoperative Excretion catalog, simplifying supplier management and shipment planning.
In a one-piece system the flange and pouch are permanently attached, giving a lighter and more discreet product. In a two-piece system the flange and pouch connect through a coupling ring, so the flange can remain on the skin for 3 to 5 days while only the pouch is changed, reducing pulling and irritation.
Convexity is used when the stoma is flush or retracted, or when the peristomal skin is creased, scarred or uneven. The convex shape presses gently around the stoma to direct output into the pouch and improve the seal. Flat wafers suit regular, protruding stomas with intact skin.
Yes. We provide OEM and ODM production for ostomy flanges, covering shape, color, logo, material, specification, size and packaging. Our R&D and quality teams work from an approved sample and specification sheet so each production batch matches the reference.
Our quality control team follows documented inspection procedures under ISO 13485:2016. Most of our products are CE certified, and our Suzhou factories comply with FDA requirements. Inspection covers incoming materials, in-process coating and cutting checks, and finished-product dimensional and peel testing, with sample retention and traceability.
We need the system type, coupling diameter and pouch interface, stoma profile and target patient group, barrier thickness and expected wear time, branding and packaging requirements, and target quantity with delivery schedule. With these inputs we can prepare a matched configuration and quotation.
